Klinikk for Alle Majorstuen now offers a new apparatus for measuring blood pressure. The pulse waves in the main pulmonary artery (aorta) are measured via a «wristwatch» on the wrist. These numbers are then combined with the figures from a traditional blood pressure measurement and the central blood pressure is calculated.
“The device measures the central blood pressure in the aorta that is much closer to both the brain and heart. The studies show that this can give a very good assessment of patients’ risk of having both a stroke and a heart attack, «says Professor David Russell of the Department of Neurology at the National Hospital. (Dagbladet 2011)
The study in which this blood pressure device has been tested is published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. This study concludes that the measurements the device makes are 99% accurate, compared to measuring blood pressure using a heart catheter.
Klinikk for Alle Majorstuen offers its customers this type of measurement and cardiology examination. For more information or to make an appointment for a cardiology examination call 02325 or use our online booking.
